Villa garden in the Tuscan hills

This magnificent Tuscan villa is perched on a steep hillside, overlooking the town of Lucca. To compete with the stone house, courtyard and walls, an evergreen Italianate boxwood parterre was planted, without blocking the incredible views over the valley. Lemon trees and Pomegranates in terracotta pots flank the entrance to the garden. To provide a cooling element under the blazing sun, rooftop plane trees, an infinity pool and a trickling stone water basin finish the scheme. A large, solitary Magnolia grandiflora was planted in the adjacent lawn, viewed from an outdoor dining area. The parterre is filled with Gauras, roses and peonies.
