Picking apples in the city

An overgrown city garden with one or two good trees was cleaned out to create a liveable outdoor space. A contemporary guest cottage was installed in the back of the garden using a crane. This gave us the chance to import soil and paving materials to bridge the level change with stepped terraces. These hold in the perennial borders and double as seating benches, thus creating a large entertaining area. And so the apple tree was given a new lease of life, providing a bountiful harvest the first year after completion.
